We recently had the honor of welcoming renowned editorial stylist Esther Langham for a hands-on styling class in our SoHo loft. With a career that spans the runways of Dior, Gucci, and the pages of Vogue, Esther brought not just her skill, but her story: one rooted in tradition, shaped by experience, and generously shared.
Her focus for the day? The art of the wet-set, a classic technique often overlooked in modern salons. Esther guided the team through the discipline and detail that makes this approach so powerful, reminding us that not everything in hairdressing can (or should) be rushed. She even brought her mother, also a hairdresser, and shared memories of growing up in salons watching women gather for their weekly sets. It was a full-circle moment that made the day feel even more special.
The session quickly became more than a class. It turned into a celebration of technique, team connection, and the value of slowing down to master the fundamentals. Stylists at all levels stepped in to try their hand, share a laugh, and walk away with something lasting.
As one of our longtime inspirations Kevin Ryan put it best:
"Sometimes there are no shortcuts or substitutions. Real hairdressing skills are important to learn."
